If your windows failed to boot at usual mood and you will tend to boot it from Safe Mood. From Safe Mood, it will load alots of scripts will you will not border, if it hand when loading ‘mup.sys’ .. maybe below could be the fix:

  1. Boot from windows CD
  2. Boot into recovery console ( ‘R’ for repair )
  3. in command prompt, type this:

    4. chkdsk /p

this will check your disk for corrupted file. Usually if you got this problem probably because of you got a USB device improper installed or corrupted when the usb driver intend to install into windows xp. (eg: unplug your usb wifi adapter when the driver still installing…)
